New OSM-M module combines Renesas DRP-AI acceleration with a compact, low-power design for industrial vision, robotics, and intelligent edge devices.
Geniatech introduces its new RZ/V2N OSM-M AI System-on-Module, expanding the company’s edge AI portfolio with a compact, power-efficient platform designed for industrial vision and intelligent automation applications.
Powered by the Renesas RZ/V2N processor, the module brings AI-enabled visual processing to space-constrained edge devices such as autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), smart traffic systems, machine vision equipment, and medical imaging platforms. By combining Renesas’ DRP-AI accelerator with the compact OSM-M standard, the module enables high-performance AI inference in fanless and thermally constrained deployments.
“The demand for intelligent edge devices continues to grow across industrial automation, transportation, healthcare, and robotics,” said Chen, Product Director at Geniatech. “The RZ/V2N OSM-M delivers a compact and energy-efficient platform for AI vision applications while providing customers with a scalable path from prototyping to production.”
Optimized for Edge AI Vision
At the core of the module is Renesas’ proprietary Dynamically Reconfigurable Processor AI (DRP-AI), a dedicated hardware accelerator designed to execute AI vision workloads efficiently while maintaining low power consumption.
The module supports real-time image processing and AI inference for applications that require rapid decision-making at the edge. Its architecture enables low-latency visual analysis without relying on cloud connectivity, making it suitable for environments where responsiveness, reliability, and power efficiency are critical.
Key features include:
- Renesas RZ/V2N processor with integrated DRP-AI accelerator
- Compact OSM-M form factor for space-constrained designs
- Fanless operation for industrial and embedded deployments
- Support for multiple MIPI CSI camera interfaces
- 4K video encoding and decoding capabilities
- Industrial-grade design for robotics, machine vision, transportation, and medical systems
Compared with larger computer-on-module standards, the OSM-M form factor provides a significantly smaller footprint while maintaining a standardized design approach that simplifies system integration and long-term scalability.
Part of a Broader Edge Computing Strategy
The RZ/V2N OSM-M is the latest addition to Geniatech’s expanding ARM-based embedded computing portfolio.
Geniatech currently supports processor platforms from Renesas, NXP, Rockchip, MediaTek, and Qualcomm Technologies across multiple industry-standard module formats, including OSM, SMARC, Qseven, and COM Express Compact. This broad ecosystem allows customers to select the most suitable balance of AI performance, power consumption, and cost for their specific applications.
Many of Geniatech’s module solutions are designed to streamline migration across different processor families, helping customers accelerate product development while reducing redesign efforts.
“Our platform strategy gives customers greater flexibility when building edge AI systems,” added Fang. “Whether the requirement is ultra-low-power AI vision, high-performance edge computing, or long lifecycle industrial deployments, we can support a wide range of application needs through standardized module platforms and customization services.”
From Evaluation to Production
Beyond standard modules, Geniatech provides ODM and OEM services that support customers throughout the product development lifecycle.
The company offers carrier board customization, interface expansion, enclosure integration, operating system adaptation, and software enablement services for industrial and commercial deployments. Customers can leverage Geniatech’s engineering and manufacturing resources to accelerate development from proof-of-concept through mass production.
To support AI application development, the RZ/V2N OSM-M is backed by a complete software ecosystem, including board support packages, AI model deployment tools, and development resources for popular AI frameworks such as TensorFlow Lite, PyTorch, and ONNX.
